Press Release
Health IT companies receive fund injection - 15 February 2007
New Zealand's health IT sector earned around 230 million in revenue last year, 70% in exports. This was an increase of more than 500% from revenue in 2001. Minister of economic development, Trevor Mallard, said the sector had high growth potential. "The government support for the health IT Cluster will help it act as an agent and identify export opportunities, engage in global markets and also encourage new projects that will position New Zealand as a leader of innovate health IT," Mr Mallard said. Precept received $100,000 to help break into offshore markets.
Enterprise Development Grant
Precept Health Limited has been awarded $100,000 in Market development funding from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) to assist us with our international development strategy.
We are grateful for the support provided by NZTE. The Enterprise Development Grant will assist us with a range of projects all necessary to ensure our growth in Asia, and North America.
Precept has committed to developing its acute care products throughout Asia, Europe and Canada.
The Collaborative Health Showcase.
The collaborative showcase took place at Himms in 2006, and saw a number of New Zealand Health IT vendors in collaboration with Microsoft produce a clear demonstration of a distributed patient record using HL7 V3 technology, and the Microsoft development platform.
The story showed a chronic care patient with diabetes through a variety of care settings, using various technological applications and services working cohesively together.
Precept provided the hospital system software, accepting and dispatching referrals and other messages to the primary care organization, as well as to internal departments.
Within the hospital setting, if the patients condition deteriorates his clinical status, investigations, and interventions are closely tracked through Precepts HMS, OR manager, and ICU Care manager. The hospital event culminates in open heart surgery with Precept’s cardio thoracic software keeping tight control of the situation.
As a result of the Showcase, Precept Health has forged a partnership with an US software firm as a direct result of the interest they generated through their involvement in the project, and has experienced significant growth in interest.
The Collaborative Health Showcase was funded by Microsoft New Zealand, government agency New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology (FRST).
